Treachery and Triumph
UK publisher 'Pneuma Springs Publishing' have published an anthology of wartime stories to commemorate 70 years since the ending of World War II. They commissioned fourteen separate authors including Chris R. Pownall to contribute to this book, which was released on 24th September 2015.
Each author was given a choice of genre, but each story had to relate to the period of WW2. After much thought, Chris opted to write a fictional romance, which is a bit of a tear jerker, but he hopes it will make a few of his readers smile!! The story is entitled 'GI Gerry's Gifts', and it is set in rural England, where American GI Gerry Bonazoli was stationed, before entering into active service.
Gerry was always looking for a good time and a pretty young English girl becomes involved with him, despite her having a steady boyfriend already fighting overseas in the war. She faces difficult decisions, similar to many other women, whose husbands and loved ones, were away from home for a considerable amount of time.
This is a new genre for Chris, so he hopes his readers are not disappointed.
The complete anthology is available both as a paperback, as well as a Kindle Ebook.
